According to the American Heart Association, nearly one in three adults has high blood pressure. But most of these people don't know they have high blood pressure, because it's a silent disease. People can have high blood pressure for years without experiencing symptoms or knowing they have it.
In most cases of high blood pressure there is no one identifiable cause. It can happen due to various factors like hypertension, weight, activity level, tobacco use, sodium intake, potassium intake, and stress and alcohol consumption. Blood pressure is the force of blood against the walls of arteries. High blood pressure increases your chance for getting heart disease and/or kidney disease, and for having a stroke. It is especially dangerous because it often has no warning signs or symptoms.
There is a lot of interest in alternative treatments for high blood pressure nowadays. This is understandable, since most regular medicines for high blood pressure have undesirable side effects. These side effects often include sleepiness, impaired judgment, nausea and allergic reactions. Natural cures for high blood pressure or medicines made from natural ingredients such as fruits, vegetables, herbs are catching a lot of attention due to its very nature of cure: simple, no side effects, no chemicals, inexpensive, plus the delight of being able to cure yourself!
In natural cures, the logic is to use the chemicals naturally present in the herbs, spices and other food to tackle the offending outside elements in the body that is causing the pain or infection offering relief from the problem without these unwanted effects. However remember to consult with your physician about any change that you wish to adopt in treatment of high blood pressure.
